Melynie Klunk for Re-election
to the Bow & SAU School Boards:
A Passionate Advocate for Students, Families, and Educators
Experienced:
As a parent, educator, dedicated community member, and experienced school board member, I bring firsthand understanding of the needs, challenges, and aspirations of families, students, and educators. My experience teaching in both the United States and France, along with my bilingual background, gives me a unique perspective on diverse educational approaches and resources to help all students reach their full potential. My successful School Board term highlights my dedication to our community and working with others to find the best solution for every problem we face.
Supported our schools for 9 years:
I have been actively involved in supporting our schools in every way possible—from volunteering in classrooms and working at our book fairs to advocating for sports, the arts (music, theater among others), and extracurricular activities that enrich students’ lives. My passion for education, neuropsychology, and neurodiversity drives my commitment to ensuring that every child has access to the resources they need to thrive.
Importance of extracurriculars:
Beyond education, my love for the arts and sports has led me to encourage well-rounded opportunities for all students. My family and I actively participate in music and youth sports in our community (coaching and playing) and are frequent visitors to local museums and theater. It is impressive that not only do we have people in the stands at games, but also in the auditorium seats during music and theater performances, and celebrating the artwork, robotics, E-games and other passions that our children have developed while at Bow. It is obvious that Bow sees the value of diverse opportunities for their children.
School Board:
As an accomplished board member, my priority has always been the well-being of our students, staff, and community. This focus served me well when spearheading the 'Get the Lead Out' campaign to remove lead from our schools' water, among many other initiatives I worked on. I am an independent thinker; I actively listen to all viewpoints and I seek out honest and respectful dialogue. This unbiased approach allows me to remain resolute in the face of political intimidation. I have been and will continue to advocate for transparent, thoughtful, and community-driven decisions that serve the best interests of our schools, as well as more accessibility between our schools, the board and the community.
Finds Balance between District needs and Fiscal Responsibility:
With a background shaped by resilience and financial hardship, I understand the challenges many families face and am committed to ensuring that all students have equitable access to education, support and extracurricular activities, while working hard to do my part to keep our taxes as low as possible.
I took the responsibility you placed with me seriously when you voted for me three years ago, and if you vote for me again, I will continue to work hard for your needs. I am running for re-election to the school board to be a voice for students, parents, and educators, bringing passion, honesty, integrity, and a strong commitment to excellence in our schools. I hope to earn your vote.
